I am a 17 year old A level student in Year 12 currently studying Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and Core Maths (Level 3 – equivalent to AS Level). I have a passion in particular for Biology, and I plan to undertake a degree in Biology/Biological Sciences after Sixth Form. I go to a grammar school, and achieved all level 9-8 (A** to A/A*) at GCSE, with a level 9 (A**) in Biology.
I am – in light of the current situation – now offering tuition online, via Skype, WhatsApp Videocall, FaceTime (or any other video platform that works for you). Once COVID-19 has passed, I will perhaps begin offering lessons in a public space – eg. a local library (or somewhere like a quiet coffee shop if you’d prefer somewhere else; I’m open to suggestion!)
I base classes on exam technique, because I found that at GCSE, how you write the answer is often as (or more) important than what you write. I also like to show where topics would be applicable in the real world, so students have a sense that they are learning useful information, that has real life applications. Another part of my teaching style is application of knowledge, because often you will know ‘base knowledge’, but the issue then is thinking outside the box and knowing how to apply it. This is something I’m very keen on, especially if the student wants to take Biology or any sciences at A Level – it’s a huge part of the exams.
