This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a team of staff in Keele University’s Faculty of Natural Sciences.  This role will be responsible for the delivery of the ‘White Water Writers’ project.  This innovative project gives groups of young people the chance to collaboratively write and publish a full length novel in one week.  For more information, please see our website:  www.whitewaterwriters.com
 
The post-holder will be based in the School of Psychology and work under the direction of the Project Lead, Dr Yvonne Skipper.  The post-holder will recruit secondary schools to participate in the project, from our existing school links.  They will deliver the week long project in secondary schools across Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire.  This will involve structuring activities and encouraging students to develop their own ideas as a team.  They will also be involved in formatting covers, typesetting and publishing books.  Finally, they will plan and run book signing events for the students and their families to celebrate their achievement.  
 
The writing camps run from Monday to Friday during school hours, therefore, flexibility in working days will be required.  The successful candidate will have previous experience of working with young people, in addition to previous experience of organising and project managing events .  Full training will be given, however the post-holder will also have proven communication skills, including both written and verbal communication.
