This role will be responsible for the delivery of the ‘White Water Writers’ project. This innovative project gives groups of young people the chance to collaboratively write and publish a full length novel in one week. For more information, please see our website www.whitewaterwriters.com.
The post-holder will recruit secondary schools to participate in the project from our existing school links and by generating new leads. They will deliver the week long project in secondary schools across London and beyond. This will involve structuring activities and encouraging students to develop their own ideas as a team. They will also be involved in formatting covers, typesetting and publishing books. Finally, they will plan and run book signing events for the students and their families to celebrate their achievement along with volunteer recruitment
The writing camps run from Monday to Friday during school hours, so some flexibility in working hours will be required (effectively, you will either be delivering a camp in a school at full time hours, or you will be booking schools in and doing other admin work from home part time). The post is for at least four months and will be extended as schools book in. Full training will be given, but the post holder will have existing experience in working with young people.
